“Your life is either a celebration or a chore. The choice is yours.”

In what ways do you make your life a chore?

Take this as an opportunity to wake up and pay attention. Stop looking at your life, your work, or your blessings as a chore. Celebrate your life! Every minute you possibly can.

Procrastination is the single largest thing that I sometimes do to make my life a chore. When I just do what needs to be done in good time, I don’t have to scramble.

    Wow that is very powerful.
That is what I been saying recently. Are we just living to survive or actually getting somewhere?
When I say surviving I mean paying bills for houses and cars we cant afford and working jobs we hate to pay the bills and waiting until the weekend and our next vacation.

  3. Hey – thanks for the link. I really like what you’re doing here – it’s refreshing to read. I like this quote, and it’s depressing sometimes to see people who have let all of the enjoyment out of their life. It’s fun to live and do things when you remember to enjoy everything, even the small things.

  4. tom says:

It shouldn’t be depressing, you should be very glad you are doing what you enjoy and ignore them.

Wow – thanks for all the comments! I feel so special…like celebrating ;-)

@FrugalCPA – I hear you. And isn’t that the root of procrastination? Seeing something as a chore. I’ll get that way about cleaning my house or doing the dishes, then I remind myself it actually feels great when I’m done and I can get enjoyment out of things that on their face seem unappealing.

@Jeff – thanks so much for the kind words. It totally pains me to see people live their live as victims – poor me, everything happens to me, life is just something I put up with. It makes me want to scream! At least we can have fun, love life and hopefully inspire others to do the same :)

@Tom – I love what you wrote about living to survive versus actually getting somewhere. There’s another quote I like that reminds me of what you said: “The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet.” -James Oppenheim

Wow great quote, it is like how people dream of the future and will step on anything to get to that but they are forgetting one thing.
They have so much lying underneath their nose that they don’t appreciate it and don’t take advantage.
And then they see there life pass by and them not getting anywhere because they are trying to skip ahead.

I think I complicate things too much sometimes. I worry so much about prices at the grocery store for example that I will sometimes hit three stores to get the best prices. I don’t even have a car! I need to let go a bit on little things.

  8. tom says:

Well Mary, it depends if it was worth it.
You gotta calculate the your time, what you pay to get to these stores versus the savings you get.

See it is always crowded at the bottom, not so crowded at the top. It doesn’t mean that the more expensive stuff is better but its a good indication that it may be better.

It is actually lonely on top.

Think about it, do you want to rush and almost want to beat others to get that apparent once in a lifetime deal, is it really worth it?

  9. Jenny says:

@Mary – I think it’s great that you have self-awareness about ways you might be able to relax more or redirect your energy/thoughts to things that really matter to you (maybe grocery store prices do, maybe not). For me this post/question was really about what you said – what areas of my life stress me out or seem burdensome that really don’t need to? In awareness we actually have a choice about how to respond.
