How does one eat an elephant?

First of all, when you major in English you are supposed to have an area of literature that you "concentrate" in. I should have gone with classical literature (Ovid, Mythologies, etc.) because of my dual major. Instead my concentration was transcendental authors. Specifically Thoreau & Emerson. And you quoted them both. My heart is happy now. Today is already a fantastic day.

How often we work towards our big lofty goals/dreams or spend far too much time analyzing and picking apart what has happened. We need to know where we've been to know where we are going, but if all we do is live in those two worlds what are we missing out. We're missing out on the moments. The simple things that make us smile each day and squeal with glee for a brief time. Getting to slumber party weekly with our friends and getting emails that make you grin ear to ear.

The little/unimportant/trivial things that "do nothing" towards our future and don't help us define our past. To me, those things are EVERYTHING. Living life to it's fullest is loving each and every day. Not just the big things.

It's this kind of positive thinking, motivation, and inspiration (and there's a lot of it flowing around our blogging network) that really pushes me to be at my best - to try new things, take risks, and try harder. YOU, Jenny Blake, are a huge inspiration to me - and your positive energy is unmatched. Happy New Year to you my friend. Skype date soon? Let's set up a time in the next week or so!

Yo Benny - this is clutch advice. It's nice to have a long term goal, but it can be so overwhelming. I'm big into training folks in reaching their health goals. When I help people lose some weight and tone up, they usually give up after setting ridiculous long term goals. I find those that make weekly goals are far more successful, but in those weekly goals they must set daily goals/habits to reach those weekly goals.

I think I'm going to make your advice my slogan for 2010. Thanks for the wisdom :o)
